About Us

What makes us unique?

The school emphasizes high student achievement through active learning, character growth, and teamwork. Midtown has a diverse student body, a strong instructional staff and leadership team, as well as high parent engagement. Midtown is one of the only neighborhood-based charter schools in Baltimore, offering a high quality public school option to families in Reservoir Hill, Bolton Hill and the Midtown Benefits District. Midtown has 198 students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade and is seeking to expand opportunities to more Baltimore families in the next five years.

In March 2025, The Midtown Academy Inc. closed on the purchase of the Corpus Christi school building it has long called home (as tenants) and also bought the rectory next door. Staff, administration, students, and families are excited about facilities improvements in the school building and looking forward to new, innovative, and special spaces in the rectory. Midtown remains in Bolton Hill of SY25-26 and continues to explore expanding to a larger school building for the future. We look forward to envisioning and enacting what’s possible for Midtown in the years to come.

Mission and Vision

The Midtown Academy (“Midtown”) is a K-8 public charter school located in Bolton Hill. Midtown was one of the first, and is the longest operating charter school in Baltimore. Founded in 1997 under the New Schools Initiative and converted to charter status in 2005, Midtown has been guided by the mission of uniting diverse communities, igniting an enduring passion for learning, and developing outstanding global citizens.

Enrollment Application Deadline: 2/2/2026

Deadline for submission for the 2026-2027 admissions lottery is February 2, 2026 at 5:00pm.
PLEASE TYPE ALL INFORMATION CLEARLY- INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.  The Midtown Lottery Drawing will be held virtually on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 10:00 am.
