About Us

What makes us unique?

Student learning at Midtown is purposeful and intentional. Students are engaged through compelling topics and build an understanding of their impact on the world around them. Teachers have the autonomy to create learning investigations that engage their students while building the necessary skills for future academic success. Students are also engaged in monitoring their progress and setting academic goals. We want our students to understand that they are the key to their success in school.

Academic behaviors and learning strategies are taught and our students are guided to develop a growth mindset while persevering through academic challenges. The Midtown staff partners with parents to not only build academic competencies but social/emotional competencies as well. Empathy, assertiveness, cooperation, and responsibility are at the center of the skills and competencies we build in our students.

Midtown is uniting diverse communities, igniting an enduring passion for learning and developing outstanding global citizens. Since its founding in 1997, Midtown Academy has brought together families from two diverse neighborhoods in a vibrant school community. Our students are at the heart of every decision we make. We use components of Expeditionary Learning, Responsive Classroom, and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all of our students.

Deadline for submission for the 2023-2024 admissions lottery is February 1, 2023 at 9:30am.

The Midtown Academy lottery date for the 2023-2024 school year: February 21, 2023 at 9:30 AM. If your

child’s application is not selected for the 2023-2024 school year, and you wish to apply for the following

school year, you must fill out another application. Applications do NOT roll over from year to year.
