About Us

What makes us unique

The Crossroads School is a public, charter middle school in Baltimore City’s Fells Point operated by Living Classrooms Foundation. Our instructional program emphasizes the mastery of standards-based skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and science and provides students with ongoing opportunities to apply these skills to relevant, hands-on learning projects. Technology, cooperative learning, critical thinking, and real-world application of knowledge are all essential components of the school's core curriculum. Crossroads has a strong school culture where everyone works together to support each other and adhere to the school’s Five Promises: Commitment to Quality, Honor and Integrity, Contribution, Perseverance, and No Excuses. Crossroads students also benefit from an after school program, tutoring, mentoring, student-mastery conferences, and individualized guidance counseling. Our small size, extraordinary faculty, community connections, and unwavering focus on the development of academic and social skills help prepare our students to be successful in high school and beyond.

Community

Living Classrooms’ Turning the Corner Achievement Program (T-CAP) works closely with school leadership to provide Crossroads students with engaging enrichment programming in school and after school that supplements the regular academic program and supports student achievement. Tutoring, with an emphasis on reading and math skills, is a significant focus to assist students who are struggling in the classroom. Crossroads has an hour-long, bi-weekly Mentoring Program, recruiting enough volunteers from local businesses including Morgan Stanley, Constellation, Brown Advisory, and others, for all students to have an individual mentor. And lastly, the Yoga Action Project is another example of Crossroads’ community engagement initiatives, where students teach yoga to local professionals.

Mission and Vision

The Crossroads School creates the space for children to evolve as individuals and as a community through urgency, rigor, expectations, and kindness.
