Job Description

The Manager of Development & External Affairs (MDEA) is an integral leader and collaborator in three of KIPP Baltimore’s workstreams: development, communications, and community engagement. The role reports into and serves as the right hand and critical thought-partner to the Director of Development & External Affairs (DDEA); they work together in close partnership with KIPP Baltimore’s Board of Directors and staff to meet/exceed KIPP Baltimore's annual philanthropic revenue goals, as well as ad hoc fundraising campaigns (such as KIPP’s current $5M capital campaign: Lighting the Path). This person manages KIPP’s institutional giving portfolio; runs point on developing relationships with Corporate Social Responsibility leaders throughout the Baltimore area; and oversees the constituent relationship management database. In support of KIPP Baltimore’s strategic marketing efforts, the MDEA manages external-facing communications efforts for the region, including development and execution of print collateral; website design and maintenance; and quarterly donor-partner newsletters. As a brand leader, they manage campus video and photo shoots. This position supports family engagement efforts, assisting KIPP leadership and school-based teams to engage and amplify student, family, and alumni voices in student and talent recruitment, as well as in critical decision-making processes such as strategic planning. In all three workstreams, the MDEA will support special events as needed.

Benefits & Compensation

Compensation and Benefits: Compensation commensurate with experience within a range of $64,000 - $75,000/year. Includes a full benefits package that includes a 401K match of 4%.

SCHOOL & ORGANIZATION INFORMATION

Founded in 2002, KIPP Baltimore operates joyful, academically excellent public charter schools and alumni support programming that prepare students with the skills and confidence necessary to successfully pursue individual pathways to careers of highest aspiration. KIPP Baltimore enrolls approximately 1,500 kindergarten through eighth grade students in two schools on a shared campus in the former Walbrook High School building in West Baltimore: KIPP Harmony Academy (grades K-5) and KIPP Ujima Village Academy (6-8). Including our signature KIPP Forward (formerly KIPP Through College) program, we support more than 3,000 current students and alumni.

KIPP Baltimore is part of the national KIPP Public Schools network. KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) began in 1994 with 47 fifth-graders as a college-preparatory program housed within a public middle school in Houston, Texas; today, we are a network of 280 schools, 15,000 educators, and 175,000 students and alumni. All KIPP public charter schools are locally-run, non-profit organizations; each region is governed by a board of directors.
