Job Description
Role: To provide academic and social-emotional support to students to develop a strong sense of self, confidence, and self-regulation as well as strengthen academic, executive functioning, and social skills to be successful in school and beyond.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Consistent with the Montessori pedagogy, promote freedom with responsibility to develop independence, confidence, and self-regulation in our students
Greet students by name and get to know their strengths, interests, and needs
Interact with students and adults in a calm, respectful, and positive manner
Consistently implement the school’s commitments, pillars, and values
Observe students to determine if adult assistance is needed
Facilitate small instructional groups - scripted reading/math intervention as well as enrichment or project-based groups, integrating mindfulness and social skills, under the guidance of admin, Intervention Specialist, and Guides
Provide peer mediation/conflict resolution/restorative practices support when needed
Redirect children to the classroom peace area when needed
Guide students in using Conscious Discipline tools
Mentor students and facilitate student ‘check-in and check-out’ process to provide personalized attention and support with self-regulation and executive functioning skills
Provide supervision, structure, and strategies/activities for engagement to students during classroom coverage, lunch, specials, etc. as assigned
Support students in demonstrating and strengthening academic skills through fluency practice with reading, math facts, and operations as well as online practice and assessment programs
Conduct regular hallway sweeps and monitoring to ensure a safe and peaceful school environment (hallway, bathroom, meal time, outside, transitions, arrival, dismissal) throughout the school day
Support Guides with group assignments/workshops as scheduled
Support with virtual instruction as needed
Consistently use professional verbal and written communication skills
Collaborate with Guides, Support Staff, and Administration
Maintain focus on student safety, engagement, and well being - no personal use of cell phones in class or during recess
Model presence and professionalism - keep personal belongings, drinks, and snacks out of view of children

Bachelor’s Degree and experience working with children are preferable
