About Us
What makes us unique?
Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School is a mission-driven school in Baltimore’s historic Greenmount West community. Together with our partners and families, we transformed two vacant buildings and an empty lot, and opened our doors in 2008 as Baltimore’s first public Montessori school. Today, our school features beautiful spaces for learning and play, high quality learning environments for students beginning at age 3, Seed to Table - our thriving student-powered cooking and gardening program, supportive leadership, talented and dedicated staff, and a dynamic and engaged parent community. Families travel from 26 different zip codes to attend our school.
Community
Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School partners with a variety of community organizations to enhance our classroom and enrichment programs, and ensure that necessary support services are available to our students, families, and staff. We offer a variety of afterschool activities, dynamic arts and academic experiences, and relevant professional development. In addition, we are able to connect families with valuable resources and additional supports when needed.
BMPCS provides space and programming support for the Greenmount West Community Center Foundation, and the Adolescent Community assists with onsite food distributions for residents from surrounding neighborhoods. Through Seed to Table and classroom initiatives, children participate in activities that focus on sustainability and benefit the environment. We have a dedicated makers lab where students plan and execute service learning projects, and contribute their talents and creativity to our community events.
Mission and Vision
Our mission is to build a diverse and respectful community of joyfully engaged learners by providing a holistic Montessori environment that supports individual fulfillment, compassion, self-discipline, lifelong learning, and a deep awareness of our responsibility to contribute meaningfully to our world.
